Lomar Park, A
Brief History |
Lomar Park was established in 1967 by the present owner, Fred Peisah and is currently under the management of Paul Davies. Situate at Werombi, near Camden, in a quiet loop road called Rapley’s Loop Road, the stud is approximately l¼ hours drive south west of Sydney and covers 750 acres (245 hectares) of rolling hills, so beneficial to the development of young horses.
Over the years Lomar has adopted a policy of standing only two stallions at any one time, and has enjoyed great success with its selection of stallions. The first, and foundation sire was LE CORDONNIER, who enjoyed immediate success as Australia’s champion First Season Sire whose progeny included the Group 1 winners CHEYNE WALK, SOVEREIGN SLIPPER, GILT PATTEN, ITCHY FEET etc. The next sire was the Irish Derby winner STEEL PULSE who also went on to be a most successful sire with progeny ranging from the champion Australian sprinter RAZOR SHARP to the Classic winner JUST A STEAL, ROBIAN STEEL and STEEL BLADE. Other stallions to follow were the very successful ARCHREGENT sire of a host of brilliant two yearold performers . He also established himself as a top broodmare sire with progeny which include several Group 1 winners including the world champion TAKEOVER TARGET. MISTER C another stallion to stand was the first Danzig sire to come to Eastern Australia and has proven to be a top producer of tough, game group winners including the multiple Group 1 winner SUPER ELEGANT. Currently the stud stands ARENA, the classic winning son of Danehill, who performed at the highest Group 1 level and finished his career as the highest Australian stakeswinning son of Danehill, who has produced a host of top performers including the Group 1 winners REGAL CHEER and the Group 1 Classic Oaks winner RENA’S LADY.
The latest acquisition to the Studs stallion roster for the 2007 season is VALIXIR. The champion European miler and multiple Group 1 winner whose overseas Group 1 wins include resounding victories over ELVSTROEM and STARCRAFT.
Over the years from relatively small but select crops, Lomar Park has proved a most successful nursery of outstanding group performers including the champion two yearold SOVEREIGN SLIPPER, ITCHY FEET, GILT PATTEN, SABOT, RAZOR SHARP, STEEL BLADE, JUST A STEAL, ROBIAN STEEL, MOMENT’S PLEASURE, REGAL CHAMBER, the Magic Millions winner WINGER CHARGER, SUPER ELEGANT and REGAL CHEER.
