Fred Peisah has been involved in racing for four decades but he
has never had a galloper as tough as Sydney's iron horse Impatient
Star.
Lining up for his 14th start this campaign, the Bill Prain-trained
three-year-old proved too strong for his three rivals in
yesterday's seventh heat of the Winter Challenge (1600 metres) at
Warwick Farm, beating Lake Susannah by 1½ lengths.
"I've been in racing for 40 years and I've never had one like
this," said Peisah, who stands Impatient Star's sire Arena at
Lomar Park Stud. "He just keeps going and Billy has done a
fantastic job with him."
Prain admitted he had planned to put Impatient Star in the
spelling paddock months ago but the gelding continued to thrive on
racing.
Yesterday's win took his record to five wins from 23 starts and
Prain said he is likely to have another run this preparation. "I
told Fred we should turn him out (three months ago) and he's since
won about $60,000 in BOBS (the Breeder Owner Bonus Scheme)," Prain
said. "He is an iron horse."
